Munster Technological University has launched a new pilot green biorefinery at its Kerry campus.
The facility aims to reduce carbon footprint by developing technologies that convert grasslands into a circular bioeconomy.
This includes the production of animal feeds, human-grade protein, prebiotics, flavours and bioenergy.
The biorefinery, which is the first of its kind in Ireland, is funded by Enterprise Ireland in collaboration with the Centre for Applied BioSciences Research (CABR) Technology Gateway.
