It’s hoped that more first-time buyers in Kerry will qualify for the government’s First Home Scheme following another price ceiling increase.
The scheme aims to help first-time buyers bridge the gap between their mortgage, deposit, and the price of a new home up to a certain amount.
Just five people in Kerry had drawn down funding under the scheme between 2022 and October 2025.
People in Kerry can now avail of the grant if the price of their chosen house or apartment is up to €400,000, which is an increase of €25,000 on the previous price ceiling.
It’s hoped this will allow more people to qualify for the scheme, without causing price distortion in the local housing market.
The price ceiling increase for Kerry has been welcomed by Minister Norma Foley.
