Mná Tí in Kerry are to receive an immediate increase in their subsidy for hosting Irish language students.
Mná Tí provide accommodation in their homes in the Gaeltacht for students attending Irish-language colleges.
The subsidy will increase from €13 to €14.50 per student per night under the Scéim na bhFoghlaimeoirí Gaeilge, to families recognised under the scheme; this is also backdated to the beginning of the 2025 courses on 31st May this year.
The grant for recognised hostels or residential colleges who provide accommodation under the scheme will increase by €1 per night, from €9,50 to €10.50.
The payment increase for Mná Tí in Kerry has been welcomed by Kerry TDs, Minister Norma Foley and Michael Cahill.
