Minister insists Ireland will support any EU sanctions on Russia amid Aughinish Alumina controversy

The Minister for Foreign Affairs insists Ireland will support any measures taken by the EU to impose sanctions on Russia.

It comes amid controversy over the exports from the Russian owned Aughinish Alumina plant in Limerick.

That centres on reports some material is ending up in the Russian military supply chain.

The refinery, which processes bauxite, is a significant employer in North Kerry and West Limerick.

The issue was raised in discussions between the EU's Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas and Minister Helen McEntee in Dublin today.
