Minister for Mental Health has now received long-awaited North Kerry CAMHS report

The Minister for Mental Health has confirmed she has received the long-awaited report on North Kerry CAMHS.

A lookback review into all files in North Kerry CAMHS was commissioned in 2023 after a sample audit of random open cases raised concerns.

There has been criticism of the length of time it took to conduct the North Kerry CAMHS review, and compile the report.

In the meantime, the HSE has apologised for the delay to the young people affected, who have been informed of any issues identified in their care.

Speaking in the Dáil in response to Kerry TD Michael Cahill, Minister for Mental Health Mary Butler confirmed she has received the report over the weekend.

The review into North Kerry CAMHS arose after the Maskey report into South Kerry CAMHS revealed significant harm was done to 46 children in their care, and 240 patients were put at risk of harm.

The South Kerry CAMHS compensation scheme was then set up for young people affected; Minister of State Mary Butler gave this update on the uptake of the scheme:
