The Milltown History and Heritage Society is to begin collecting and preserving local stories and folklore in oral history archive.
It’s intended the project will create a valuable resource for future generations, ensuring that the heritage of the community is recorded and safeguarded.
Oral history expert and historian Dr Tomás Mac Conmara will give a talk in Milltown at the end of this month to launch the archive.
His presentation is free of charge and will take place at the Muintir na Tíre Hall at eight o’clock on Friday evening, 24th October.
Clare native, Dr Mac Conmara is an award-winning oral historian, lecturer, and author, who will introduce attendees to the fundamentals of oral history collection, including the practical skills required for interviewing, recording, and documenting local heritage.
This is intended to serve as the first step in developing an oral heritage recording project in Milltown.
The presentation is funded by the Creative Communities Grant Scheme 2025.
