Michael O’Shea is new Cathaoirleach of Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne MD

Fianna Fáil councillor Michael O’Shea is the new Cathaoirleach of the Castleisland Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District.

Fine Gael councillor Bobby O’Connell has been elected Leas Cathaoirleach.

Councillor O’Shea takes over as Cathaoirleach from councillor Fionnán Fitzgerald, and has promised that housing will be his priority for the coming year.

He says it used to be the case that council houses were in every area of the county, but he feels the council has lost the art of building social housing.

He wants to get housing in parts of West Kerry and the Castleisland area where there hasn’t been a housing allocation before.
