Less than 48 hours before resigning from his position as a junior minister, Michael Healy-Rae stated he was going to continue to work for the people of Kerry from within Government.
Last evening, the Kerry Independent TD resigned as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture to vote no confidence in the Government.
He says he couldn't back the coalition after its response to the fuel protests.
However, on Sunday evening, less that 48 hours before tendering his resignation, Michael Healy-Rae posted a video on social media saying he was glad he'd gone into Government.
In that video, Deputy Healy-Rae said he'd continue working for the people of Kerry from within Government:
The Government won the motion of confidence by 92 votes to 78.
His brother, independent Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae also pulled his support.
Speaking in the Dáil yesterday, Michael Healy-Rae stated why he could not support the Government anymore and why he was resigning as Minister of State.
