An Ireland South MEP says delays with the Shannon LNG project exemplify, what he calls, our failure to have a rational debate about energy.

MEP Billy Kelleher says if the liquid natural gas terminal were in operation, it would enhance Ireland's energy security and supply.

He said it would be an asset during the current fuel crisis.

MEP Kelleher is calling for a sensible debate about nuclear energy, so we can ease our reliance on fossil fuels and our exposure to instability in the Middle East.
