MEP says proposed changes to EU banking rules could help lower Irish interest rates

An MEP for Kerry is calling for changes to EU banking rules to help lower Irish interest rates.

Fianna Fáil’s Billy Kelleher has written to the Irish Government seeking its support to amend EU rules.

He says this would allow Irish banks offer lower interest rates for mortgages and loans, in light of the already signalled ECB rate hike next month.
