An Ireland South MEP is urging the government to do more - urgently - to protect women across Ireland.
Sinn Féin MEP Kathleen Funchion was responding to Garda figures which show a 45% rise in domestic abuse calls over the past four years.
She described the figures as shocking and warns that violence against women and girls is now at crisis levels.
