MEP calls for European Commission to consult local fishers ahead of new conservation measures

A Kerry M.E.P is warning the European Commission that consultation with local fishers is essential, before bringing in new conservation measures.

Sean Kelly says, while he supports the principle of fishery conservation, he claims that the data on which they’re based is not up to date.

MEP Kelly says if new laws are applied in this manner, he believes the designated zones will be only open to fishers from outside the EU.
