A meeting will take place in Tralee this afternoon for survivors of industrial and reformatory schools.
The meeting is aimed at providing information regarding the package of supports for survivors, which was announced by the Taoiseach in January.
That announcement followed a 51-day hunger strike by Mary O’Donovan, Miriam Moriarty Owens, and Maurice Patton-O’Connell, survivors of Pembroke Alms Industrial School in Tralee, and Mary Dunleavy Greene, who was incarcerated in Limerick.
The meeting today takes place at 2pm at the Brandon Hotel, for any survivors of industrial and reformatory schools from the Kerry and Cork area.
A representative for Sage Advocacy, which is the national advocacy service for older people, will also be in attendance.
