Man remanded in custody in relation to alleged arson incident in Mid-Kerry

A man has been remanded in custody in relation to an alleged arson incident in Mid-Kerry.

54-year-old Dariusz Siwiec, with an address at 12 Cois Gallain, Killorglin appeared before Judge David Waters at a special sitting of Listowel District Court today.

On Thursday the 30th of April, at approximately 9:15pm, Mr. Siwiec allegedly carried out the act at house in the estate.

The court heard the house had 5 occupants, including two children aged 5 and 7.

It’s alleged the suspect secured the gate into the property was with cable ties prior to the fire being started.

He is represented by solicitor Padraig O’Connell and faces two charges in relation to the incident.

Judge Waters refused jurisdiction due to the nature of the charges, meaning the matter will not be heard in the district court.

Mr. Siwiec is set to appear before Tralee District Court this Wednesday 6th of May, via video link.
