A man arrested after the seizure of €10,000 worth of drugs in Killarney has been charged and is due to appear in court.
He was arrested after drugs were found during an operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the region.
Gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drugs unit conducted this operation on Tuesday and at 10 o’clock that night, Gardaí stopped a car on the N22 road near Farranfore.
After the driver, a man aged in his 20s, failed a roadside drug test; Gardaí then searched his vehicle and discovered approximately €1,400 worth of cocaine in the car.
This led Gardaí to carry out further searches at a domestic premises where they seized a further €8,600 worth of cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia.
Gardaí say the drugs that were seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The man was arrested and was detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
Gardaí says he has since been charged in connection to the investigation; he has been released from Garda custody and is due to appear in court next month.
