A man has appeared in court charged in connection with a significant seizure of suspected drugs in North Kerry.
26-year-old Jonathon McNamara of 23 Cluain na Mara, Kilkee, Co Clare appeared before Tralee District Court this morning.
He is facing four charges relating to the possession of a controlled drug and possession for sale or supply.
It’s alleged that on June 13th at Lidl carpark, John B Keane, Listowel, Jonathon McNamara had possession of cocaine for the purpose of selling or supplying it to another person; he is also charged with the possession of cocaine.
At the same location and on the same date, Jonathon McNamara is also charged with being in possession of cannabis, as well as a further charge of being in possession of cannabis for sale or supply.
Detective Garda Tom O’Sullivan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution and he told the court Mr McNamara gave no reply when charged.
Jonathon McNamara, who is represented by solicitor Padraig O’Connell, was granted bail subject to conditions.
These include that he must reside at 23 Cluain na Mara, Kilkee Co Clare, he must stay out of Kerry expect for court appearances and legal appointments, he must also provide his mobile number to Gardaí, surrender his passport, sign on at Kilrush Garda Station and obey a curfew of 10pm to 6am.
Padraig O’Connell said his client agrees to the bail conditions.
Mr McNamara was remanded on his own bail bond of €1,000, and an independent surety of €4,000; this was lodged by his father who was present in court and signed Mr McNamara’s bail bond.
Jonathon McNamara is due to appear before Listowel District Court on July 3rd.
