A man has appeared in court in relation to a spate of burglaries in Tralee this week.
44-year-old Michael Coffey of 32 Cnoc Gorm, Tralee appeared before Judge John King at Mallow District Court facing 14 charges.
Michael Coffey faces charges including burglary, theft, possession of stolen property and possession of drugs.
He’s charged with four separate counts of burglary between August 3rd and August 7th at properties in Tralee at Oakview, Clounalour, Cloonbeg and St Brendan’s Park.
Mr Coffey also faces two counts of theft from motor vehicles on August 7th, at the North Circular Road, Tralee, and the Brandon Car Park, and a further charge of possession of stolen property at the Brandon Car Park in Tralee.
It’s alleged that the 44-year-old also entered two motor vehicles at Clounalour and a vehicle in the Brandon Car Park on August 7th.
He also faces charges of possession of cocaine at the Abbey Car Park on February 3rd 2024; and drink driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence on Ashe Street on January 1st last year.
Mr Coffey appeared in person before Judge John King at Mallow District Court today in relation to the charges.
His solicitor Padraig O’Connell urged the court to grant bail subject to a number of conditions, including that he sign on at his local Garda Station and abide by a curfew.
Judge King refused the bail application and granted legal aid.
He remanded Mr Coffey in custody to appear before Tralee District Court on August 14th for DPP directions.
