A man accused of trespassing and assault in Tralee will face the charges against him in the Circuit Criminal Court.
46-year-old Trevor O’Callaghan, of no fixed abode, appeared in Tralee District Court, where he was remanded in custody.
It’s alleged that on 23rd August this year, Trevor O’Callaghan entered one of the Tralee Town Centre Apartments on Maine Street at around 5:30pm, and was interrupted by the owner-occupier as he tried to leave.
He faces one charge of trespassing with intent to commit theft from this alleged incident.
Mr O’Callaghan is also accused of entering a room of the Ashe Hotel at 11:15pm on 16th October.
Sergeant Chris Manton told the court the residents had been in the restaurant of the hotel, and when they came back to the room, they heard noise and found the defendant in the room.
Mr O’Callaghan faces one charge of assault in relation to this alleged incident.
Judge David Waters refused jurisdiction in the case, meaning it will be dealt with in a higher court with wider sentencing powers on conviction.
Judge Waters remanded Mr O’Callaghan in custody to 3rd December for the state to prepare the book of evidence against him.
