The man accused of murdering Kenmare man Mike Gaine has been further remanded in custody.
54-year-old American man Michael Kelley, who had been living in Tralee, appeared in Tralee District Court via video link today.
Mike Gaine was first reported missing almost a year ago to the day.
Mr Kelley is accused of murdering Michael Gaine at Carrig Kenmare, between the 20th and 21st March last year.
It is the only charge he faces.
He appeared in court via video link from Cork Prison this morning.
He spoke to confirm his name, and to confirm he could see and hear the court.
Sergeant Chris Manton said the book of evidence against Mr Kelley is not yet available.
Judge David Waters remanded Mr Kelley in continuing custody to 1st April, when he will again appear in court via video link for an update on the case.
His solicitor Pat Mann said his client’s bail application is in transit; bail applications on a charge of murder cannot be heard in the District Court and must be taken to the High Court.
This coming Saturday marks a year exactly since Mike Gaine was first reported missing from his home in Kenmare.
