Man accused of attempted robbery at Tralee bookmakers signs guilty plea

A man accused of the attempted robbery of a bookies in Tralee has been sent forward on a signed guilty plea.

47-year-old John Paul Farrell, with an address at Muckross Road, Killarney, was sent forward at a recent sitting of Tralee District Court.

Mr Farrell faces the single charge of attempted robbery at Boylesports on Edward Street in Tralee at around 4:40pm on 1st November last.

He appeared in person at Tralee District Court, where his solicitor Pádraig O’Connell said he is proceeding on a signed plea.

Sergeant Chris Manton told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions had consented to Mr Farrell being sent forward for trial or on a signed guilty plea.

There was no application for bail.

Judge David Waters sent Mr Farrell forward on a signed guilty plea to the present sittings of Tralee Circuit Court.

He will now be listed for Tralee Circuit Court, where he will be arraigned to affirm his guilty plea.
