A man in his 30s has been killed in a road traffic collision near the Kerry Limerick border.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the fatal crash on the N21 at Templeglantine, between Abbeyfeale and Newcastle West late last night.
The collision involving three cars happened at approximately 11pm.
The male passenger of the first car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of that car left the scene on foot and Gardaí are seeking to identify this person.
The deceased man's body has been taken to the mortuary at UHL (University Hospital Limerick) for a post-mortem examination.
The passengers in the second and third vehicles were treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
The N21 road remains closed pending technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.
