Over 70% of the work has now been completed on the long-awaited Kenmare wastewater treatment plant.
Uisce Éireann says construction works on the €25 million investment are continuing in line with the programme, and the project’s on track to be finished early next year.
Key equipment which will process and treat the wastewater are being installed, and early commissioning works are underway.
Uisce Éireann says this will provide a significant upgrade to the town’s wastewater infrastructure, with a new pump station and an expanded treatment plant with increased capacity.
The lack of wastewater capacity has stifled development in the town in recent years.
