Kerry’s Sinn Féin TD has criticised what he says is a lack of Irish language signage in the new development at Kerry Airport.
The multi-million-euro development was officially opened by Taoiseach Micheál Martin this week, and includes a new arrivals hall and an upgraded departures area.
Kerry Airport has signage in Irish in other areas of the airport.
Kerry Sinn Féin TD Pa Daly has rejected criticism from Independent councillor Jackie Healy-Rae that he is weaponising the Irish language and undermining the airport’s successful development.
He says for an airport serving three Gaeltacht areas, it’s not good enough.
Deputy Daly did not attend the official opening on Monday at Kerry Airport, nor did he attend the recent official opening of the MTU’s new STEM building.
The Sinn Féin TD says often, these events are just publicity events for the government.
