Management in Listowel Municipal District (MD) is to assess a newly resurfaced regional road for safety improvements.
Councillor Liam ‘Speedy’ Nolan complimented the standard of work on the R523 Lissinska to Athea road at the recent MD meeting.
He said, however, that some concerns remain, namely the road’s incline means no gravel can be placed on either side of the road.

Management assured Cllr Nolan that the road will be assessed for the provision of edge support drainage stone along the length of the works.
If the physical geography of the area makes this unfeasible, the road will be assessed for roadside delineators to highlight the road edge.
Cllr Nolan said this would be a “a perfect finish to a perfect job”.
