Listowel MD cathaoirleach questions excessive public consultation on Listowel to Tralee Greenway

The cathaoirleach of Listowel Municipal District has questioned the need for three rounds of public consultation regarding the Listowel to Tralee Greenway.

Fianna Fáil councillor Jimmy Moloney was speaking in the wake of the news that no part of the South Kerry Greenway will open this year.

He believes the Listowel to Tralee Greenway would be brought to fruition sooner if Kerry County Council did not have to consult so many outside bodies.

The first public consultation for the North Kerry project was undertaken in December 2023, and a second one took place in mid-September 2024.

The third public consultation is expected to go ahead in late quarter two (Q2) or early quarter three (Q3) this year.

Cathaoirleach Moloney says the soonest the Listowel to Tralee Greenway would be open is two years' time:
