Listowel has been chosen by Poetry Ireland as one of 20 towns in Ireland to take part in a new poetry initiative.
The project will see more than a hundred free poetry-related activities take place in 20 towns across the island between 10th and 18th September.
As part of the initiative, a poet laureate will be appointed for each participating town, who will be commissioned to write a poem honouring their town and its people.

The chosen towns will also host a wide variety of free poetry events involving local poets.
The full programme for each town will be made available on the Poetry Town website during the last week of August.
