Bollards erected in Listowel as part of Kerry County Council's COVID-19 town centre mobility plan are to be removed.

It follows a review of the Listowel Municipal District plan.

It has been three months since changes were put in place as part of Kerry County Council's Safe and Welcoming Streets COVID - 19: Town Centre Mobility Plan for Listowel Municipal District.

Kerry County Council has now written to Listowel Municipal District councillors and to Listowel Business & Community Alliance after carrying out a review based on anecdotal information and feedback from businesses, the public and elected members.

The council says the review recommends that two-hour parking returns to Church Street, The Square and the upper part of William Street in Listowel.

Short term spaces on lower William Street will remain unchanged and one age-friendly space will be introduced in The Square with the existing three being retained.

No changes are recommended for Ballybunion, Ballyheigue, Ballylongford and Tarbert.

The council says this is a live plan and will continue to be reviewed.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Jimmy Moloney says the Listowel town plan, which councillors couldn't vote on, was never going to work:
