Fewer than 5km of active travel projects have been delivered by Kerry County Council in the past two years.
That’s according to the Local Government Climate Action Key Performance Indicators Report 2024.
Nationally, just under 350km of active travel infrastructure was delivered across the 31 local authorities in 2023 and last year.
According to the report, Kerry County Council drew down over €4.5 million in funding for active travel development over two years.
In 2023, the council received more than €1.5 million (€1,528,981) for 27 projects, at different stages of development.
The data shows a total of 1.9km of active travel were delivered in Kerry that year.
In 2024, Kerry County Council had 19 active travel projects and there was a drawdown of more than € 3 million (€3,063,639).
The report shows 2.7km of active travel infrastructure was delivered in Kerry last year.
Nationally, between 2023 and 2024 over €640 million was drawn down across the 31 local authorities for 2,013 projects, delivering 349.9km of active travel.
