The story of a family who once owned a 7,000 acre estate across mid-Kerry will be told in a public lecture next month.
As part of their Easter programme, the Milltown History and Heritage Society will be telling the story of the Leeson-Marshalls of Callinafercy from 1750 to1988.
The Leeson-Marshalls stand out from other gentry families in Kerry, as they remained in the county until the death of their last family member.
This included residing in the Kingdom during the War of Independence and Civil War, and how the family adapted to life in independent Ireland will be a focal point of the lecture.
The talk by historian, Dr John Knightly, will take place at 8pm on April 2nd in Milltown Community Hall.
