Last Earl of Desmond statue to be unveiled in Castleisland

A statue of the Last Earl of Desmond will be unveiled in Castleisland this evening.

The event takes place at 7 o’clock at the Castleisland Community Museum, featuring musical entertainment from singer/songwriter Pat McCarthy.

The chainsaw sculpture is the work of artist Will Fogarty.

The statue unveiling is part of the Castleisland 800 celebrations, organised by Rob McGuire and the Castle of the Island Society.

It marks the 800-year anniversary since the founding of Castleisland town.
