Killarney's new public bus service to launch on Monday

A pilot scheme starting on Monday will enhance public bus transport in the Killarney area.

The National Transport Authority says using an app, passengers will be able to book pick-ups and drop-offs within the designated Killarney zone.

In June, the county council said TFI Local Link Kerry was putting the finishing touches to a long-awaited shuttle bus service for the town.

The National Transport Authority says from Monday, using the TFI Anseo app, passengers will be able to book on-demand rides with ease.

The NTA says in addition to the passenger app, the pilot will also include a driver app, contact centre support, and smart routing technology.

It says the service which is being operated by TFI Local Link Kerry will run seven days a week in Killarney, year-round.

The Killarney pilot will run for an initial 12 months and is the second in the country following the TFI Anseo launch in Achill, Co Mayo last month.

There’ll be clearly branded TFI Anseo vehicles – the National Transport Authority says the new service brings the convenience of modern rideshare together with the reliability and affordability of public transport.

The NTA says most trips serving the designated Killarney zone will cost €3 or less.
