Killarney murder victim remembered as great friend and neighbour as her son receives mandatory life sentence

The Killarney woman whose son has been jailed for life for her murder, is being remembered as a great friend and a great neighbour.

75-year-old Miriam Burns was killed by her son Billy at her home in Ardshanavooley, Killarney, in August 2022.

55-year-old Billy Burns, formerly of Arlington Lodge, Tralee, has today been handed a mandatory life sentence for the murder of his mother.

Cathaoirleach of Killarney Municipal District Cllr Martin Grady was a friend and neighbour of Miriam Burns in Ardshanavooley.

He says Miriam is still missed.
