Killarney Municipal District councillors have voted in favour of the new draft litter management plan for the county.
Kerry County Council has developed the document, which will run until 2023; no submission was received during the public consultation.
Among the challenges identified are illegal dumping, disposal of face masks and gloves, dog fouling, cigarette waste, litter on beaches and convenience food waste.
The local authority says it will meet these challenges through education, awareness and enforcement.
Killarney councillors approved the plan and noted the hard work of local council staff and Tidy Towns volunteers around the county.
