Killarney was one of around 47 garda stations that increased staff numbers last year.
That’s according to a study by the Irish Independent, which found that the number of frontline gardaí is down 5 percent since 2020.
Only 21 percent of the country's 228 stations had an increase in garda numbers last year, with staff numbers at Killarney station increasing by 13 per cent.
The Irish Independent found that Portmagee was among 14 stations which lost their dedicated garda last year.
The paper's investigation shows that nationally a record number of stations have no dedicated garda assigned to them, and that there are almost 600 fewer frontline gardaí compared to six years ago.
