Elected councillors in Killarney have voted to introduced traffic management measures along the Park Road.
The proposal was put to councillors at the recent meeting of Killarney Municipal District.
Upgrades to the route include active travel facilities, including walkway and cycle lanes; two new proposed controlled pedestrian crossings; and improvements to two existing pedestrian crossings.
Meanwhile, Kerry County Council confirmed that the road width will be no less than 6.5 metres.
The work which has received €1 million in funding from the NTA, is scheduled to commence in September.
