A Killarney Councillor is hopeful jobs can be saved at the Killarney Brewing and Distilling Company.

Independent councillor Brendan Cronin was responding to the news that an interim examiner has been appointed to help safeguard the future of the business.

In a statement, the company cited ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and the recent withdrawal of a potential U.S.-based merger partner as key factors behind the decision to enter examinership.

James Anderson of Deloitte Ireland was appointed interim examiner on Wednesday evening.
