The president of Killarney Chamber of Tourism and Commerce says they are not opposed to Bird's Euroshow funfair coming to the town.

Fianna Fáil Cllr Niall Kelleher, who is also the Chamber president, says they believe the funfair should be moved elsewhere in the town, given the pressures on space and parking.

Cllr Kelleher says Bird's always run a fantastic operation and believes they will continue to do that given the current restrictions.

Cllr Niall Kelleher says locals say they currently can't come into town due to a lack of parking.

He says alternative locations would be more suitable to save parking spaces in the town centre:

Bird's Euroshow confirmed it has submitted an application to the Killarney Municipal District and says they wish to permit that process to proceed in good faith.

Meanwhile, Kerry County Council says it is considering the application for Killarney, adding funfairs are permitted to operate and open under the current public health guidelines.
