Three Kerry families say they've been unable to get answers from the council as to the ownership of the land on which their homes have been built.

The families in Kilgarvan say they have been left in a legal limbo because of the lack of information from the council.

In 1999, Kerry County Council built four houses in Kilgarvan West and rented them to tenants.

In 2004, Aishling O'Sullivan and her family bought their house from the council and in 2007, Donal and Cathy Twomey also purchased their home from the local authority.

However, the O'Sullivans and Twomeys have been unable to get the deeds to their homes despite repeated requests to Kerry County Council.

Oliver Morgan, who's been living in Kilgarvan West as a council tenant for 22 years, has been trying to buy his home from the council since 2013.

However, he's made no progress on this with the local authority.

Mr Morgan believes there may be uncertainty over the legal ownership of the land which the council acquired to build the houses.

Kerry County Council says it has no comment to make on the matter affecting the Morgan, O'Sullivan and Twomey families.
