Kerry’s Eye newspaper has been sold.
The paper was founded by the late Padraig Kennelly Senior and his late wife Joan in 1974.
The Kennelly family says the decision to sell was to secure the long-term future of the newspaper.
Kerry’s Eye has been acquired by Webprint, which is owned by Donagh and Jennifer O’Doherty; Webprint, has been a printing partner to Kerry’s Eye since 2017.
Donagh O’Doherty has held a number of positions including Managing Director of The Kerryman and of Independent News & Media’s regional titles.
Up until this purchase, the newspaper had been owned by the founders’ sons, Padraig Junior, Brendan and Kerry Kennelly, as well as financial controller Tom MacMahon.
Padraig and Brendan Kennelly will remain actively involved, and Kerry Kennelly will continue in his role as picture editor.
Padraig Kennelly Jnr says their priority was to find owners who would honour the paper’s tradition and protect its legacy.
Donagh O’Doherty says they are looking forward to working with the team at Kerry’s Eye to build on its success.
