A Kerry woman accused of harassing an elected representative and a garda will have her case dealt with in the district court.
Judge David Waters accepted jurisdiction in the case of 61-year-old Bernadette O’Sullivan of Ballybeg, Currow.
Ms O’Sullivan faces two counts of harassment, and obstructing a garda.
It’s alleged that between August 2024 and March 2025, Ms O’Sullivan harassed a member of An Garda Síochána.
It’s also alleged that between June 2024 and March 2025, she harassed an elected representative, and further that she obstructed a garda who was acting under the authority of a warrant at her home address on 14th May last year.
At Tralee District Court, Sergeant Chris Manton said the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed summary disposal on all matters.
Judge David Waters asked what the harassment consisted of, in order to assess whether he would accept jurisdiction.
Sergeant Manton said it will be alleged Ms O’Sullivan incessantly posted videos about the elected representative and posted a significant amount of letters to their house.
He told the court the garda called to Ms O’Sullivan’s house to ask her to refrain, and it will be alleged she recorded this interaction as well, and posted it online.
Judge Waters accepted jurisdiction, and remanded Ms O’Sullivan to 13th May for her to enter a plea, or to fix a date for the matter to be heard.
Ms O’Sullivan was represented in court by solicitor Nuala Liston and was granted free legal aid, as the court heard she is on invalidity pension.
