Kerry will host the European Wool Day 2026 conference.
Ireland secured the bid as the host country following an application by the Irish Grown Wool Council and fibre artist, and Kerry native, Sharon Wells.
The conference itself will take place on Saturday, 28th March (2026) at the Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee.
It will focus on wool's sustainability, the circular economy, and its cultural significance.
Activities for visitors and the public, beginning on Friday, 27th March, will include hands-on workshops, exhibitions, film screenings, and community spinning and felting circles.
Attendees will include national and international sheep farmers, researchers, designers, practitioners, and wool enthusiasts.
The conference will be organised by the European Wool Exchange Foundation (EWE), Irish Grown Wool Council (IGWC), Circular Bioeconomy Cluster (CBC) in MTU Kerry and the Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) in MTU Kerry.
The event is also being supported by Future Island Island and REVEIRE (UCC).
