An app allowing patients to view all their upcoming HSE community healthcare appointments in one place is expected to roll out in Kerry next year.
Tralee councillor Mikey Sheehy sought an update on the Individual Health Identifier (IHI) app at a recent Regional Health Forum meeting.
He was told the HSE Community Care Record programme will transform largely paper-based community service records into a digital system.
Regional Director of Technology for HSE South West, Vanessa Hamilton, said community services are currently not interconnected.
She said this can lead to delays, staff not having a full picture of a person’s care, and difficulties accessing important information.
The Community Care Record programme was described as an important precursor to HSE One Health Record, which will link IT systems across all six health regions.
The programme is due to be rolled out across Kerry and the wider HSE South West region in 2027.
