Kerry produced more wind energy than any other county in 2025.
Wind Energy Ireland’s latest annual report shows wind farms provided a third of the electricity for the island of Ireland last year.
Kerry was the top-producing county for wind power, followed by Cork and Galway.
Wind Energy Ireland says wind farms helped push wholesale electricity prices down about €28 in the space of a year.
Its CEO Noel Cunniffe says, however, 13 per cent of wind energy produced last year was wasted because the grid was not strong enough to carry the power to homes and businesses.
