A Kerry TD’s dangerous driving conviction is still being considered by Fianna Fáil.

In January, Deputy Michael Cahill was convicted for driving 190km/h on the M8 motorway on March 13th 2025.

He received a two-year driving ban, a dangerous driving conviction and a €500 fine from Judge Colm Roberts at Fermoy District Court.

Deputy Cahill has since stepped down from his role at the Dáil’s Joint Justice Committee and said it never entered his mind to appeal the decision.

A spokesperson for the party confirmed that Fianna Fáil’s Rules and Procedure Committee is considering the matter and it will be finalised in due course.
