A Kerry TD is calling on the government to urgently address the lack of housing available across the country.
Fianna Fáil TD Michael Cahill has written to housing minister James Browne to request that all local authorities to start granting Planning Permission for one off housing.
The first-time TD said that the local authorities should alter their County Development Plans and Local Area Plans and grant Planning Permission to all applicants to fulfill the rural housing need.
Deputy Cahill feels that applicants are being forced on housing lists through the refusal for planning for one off houses and cites modular homes as an appropriate option for many looking to own their first home.
