A Kerry TD says there is something wrong with the process for applying for a child's passport.
Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae raised the matter in the Dáil, after it was revealed 40% of first-time child passport applications are sent back because they're incomplete.
Deputy Healy-Rae says the current process needs to be reviewed, and the children's application part needs to be streamlined.
In response to Deputy Healy-Rae, Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney said 77% of incomplete child applications occur when parents haven't submitted any documentation to the Passports Service.
Minister Coveney added he will be putting more resources into improving passport delivery times, and making sure applicants fully understand what they need to do.
