A Kerry TD says he’s deeply sorry for his actions which led to a conviction and a two-year driving disqualification.

On Friday, Deputy Michael Cahill was convicted for driving 190km/h on the M8 motorway on March 13th last year.

The Fianna Fáil TD has stepped down from his role at the Dáil’s Joint Justice Committee.

Deputy Cahill says he has no excuses for his actions, but that he has to move on from this.

Deputy Cahill received a two-year driving ban, a dangerous driving conviction and a €500 fine from Judge Colm Roberts at Fermoy District Court.
