A Kerry TD has expressed his disappointment at the Minister of Agriculture's decision to make payment cuts to schemes for beef and sheep farmers.
Deputy Danny Healy-Rae says that extra money is needed for schemes like the Beef Welfare Scheme and Sheep Welfare Scheme.
The Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers' Association has been informed that payment rates for 2025 will be cut from €75 to €67 per calf, and from €13 to €11.50 per ewe.
Deputy Healy-Rae has written to Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon regarding the matter and has pledged to address the matter in Dáil Éireann this week.
