A Kerry solicitor has highlighted his concerns around health conditions in Cork Prison.
Pat Mann was speaking at a recent sitting of Tralee District Court.
He aired his concerns over cases of scabies within the jail.
Radio Kerry has contacted Cork Prison and the Irish Prison Service for comment.
Solicitor Pat Mann was representing his client at Tralee District Court.
The accused appeared via video link from Cork Prison where he was further remanded for two weeks.
On conclusion of the sitting, Mr Mann asked his client to remain seated.
He flagged concerns to Judge David Waters over an ongoing situation that the accused faces within the jail.
Mr Mann told the judge that there has been a scabies outbreak in a section of Cork Prison.
Adding he wanted to let it be known the conditions which those in custody have to face.
Mr Mann proceeded to ask his client for an update on his condition over the video link, who confirmed he was doing ok.
The Tralee based solicitor thanked him, adding he wanted to highlight the ongoing situation to the judge.
In response to Radio Kerry, the Irish Prison Service says it works closely with the Department of Public Health and the Health Service Executive in relation to infectious diseases.
It added where an incident is confirmed within a prison setting the standard operating procedure is followed in accordance with the Guidelines for Infection Prevention and Control of the identified pathogen/disease.
