Kerry Sinn Féin will hold its annual Easter Sunday commemoration in Tralee this weekend (20th April).
A march will begin at noon from the Pikeman monument on Denny Street and proceed to Rath Cemetery, where the main event will commence at 12:30pm.
The commemoration honours the legacy of the 1916 Easter Rising and those who fought for Irish independence.
It will feature a keynote address by writer and political commentator Danny Morrison.
It will be led by the Chairperson of the Kerry Sinn Féin Comhairle Ceantair, Daithí Fitzgerald.
Speaking ahead of the event, Mr Fitzgerald explained why he believes Easter Rising commemorations matter. “The importance of Easter Sunday commemorations is that they offer a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come since 1916. We gather to remember all the men and women who gave their all for Irish freedom. But this year, we also look forward to the future of this island — not only the contentious issues of today, but also how these issues can be more effectively addressed in a united Ireland.”
